The 4^th Asian Regional Conference on Geosynthetics ( Geosynthetics Asia 2008) will be held from 17^th to 20^th June 2008 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, Shanghai, China, following the latest successful conference, the 3^rd Asian Regional Conference on Geosynthetics (2004) in Seoul, Korea. The conference is being organized by the Chinese Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society（CCIGS）, the Chinese Technical Association on Geosynthetics (CTAG) under the auspices of the International Geosynthetics Society(IGS), the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society(CHES) and is supported by the Shanghai Investigation Design & Research Institute(SIDRI) and the Zhejiang University. The conference will discuss the theme of Geosynthetics in Civil and Environmental Engineering including special lectures, keynote lectures, invited reports on important projects, paper presentation, exhibition and technical visit, etc. The conference is a place where all aspects of the use of geosynthetics will be discussed with.

 

As the organizer, the Chinese Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society and the Chinese Technical Association on Geosynthetics are honored to host this premier event. Shanghai is one of the largest commercial cities and economic centers of China. It is being developed into a modern international economic, financial, trading and shipping center. Shanghai is a showcase for recent rapid development of China. The big construction projects of ‘2010 Shanghai World Expo’ have been started. Geosynthetics has a bright prospect in Shanghai.
